Venezia Mestre station ranks seventh among the major Italian stations, with a traffic volume estimated at about 85,000 daily passengers and 31 million annual visitors.

It is a transit station, strategically positioned as a key point for the extensive public transport system serving the Venetian hinterland.

With the renovation of the station, the areas dedicated to primary and secondary services have been significantly expanded, and internal pathways have been optimized. A new central longitudinal route now connects the new ticket office and the areas dedicated to services.

The platform of the first track has been cleared of building excesses, offering a better visual and functional permeability of the spaces.

In March 2017, the new multi-storey parking facility located on Via della Stazione was inaugurated, with a capacity of up to 290 parking spaces.

At the Venezia Mestre station, there is an active control room that ensures continuous monitoring of the station through security services and oversight of safety systems.

Additionally, a security service is in place that ensures the protection of the areas, detection and reporting of non-conformities, and security interventions. Moreover, it is responsible for emergency management, in coordination with maintenance personnel for initial interventions and support for external rescuers.

To support and optimize human resources, security systems are integrated. Specifically, the station is equipped with:

• Video surveillance and digital video recording systems;

• Access control and intrusion detection systems;

• Fire detection systems.

The system is organized in close coordination with the Railway Police to ensure immediate escalation and management of any issues that may arise.
