Grandi Stazioni Rail enhances and reimagines public spaces by transforming major railway station complexes into "urban squares." From anonymous transit points, stations become some of the busiest service hubs in Europe—meeting places, centers of art, events, and culture.
With over 700 million visitors annually and a total investment of €750 million for the redevelopment of the internal and external areas of the network’s real estate complexes, stations are becoming high-potential economic enterprises capable of offering new business opportunities and quality services. Through our work, we aim to:
Return to the public assets of great architectural, cultural, and social value;
Create new hubs for gathering, social interaction, and exchange;
Reinvent the role of the passenger through the enjoyment of time spent in the station;
Meet needs;
Anticipate desires.
Our management model is based on the know-how acquired through the assessment and understanding of the needs of station users and travelers, as well as on innovative concepts for enhancing urban spaces. The creation of a “human-centered” environment—designed to offer services and opportunities to both travelers and citizens—is grounded in several key principles:
Safety: By combining "passive" security systems (SOS call points, surveillance cameras, anti-intrusion systems, and access control) with "active" measures (law enforcement personnel), station environments are monitored and protected 24/7.
Information: All services are designed to maximize the ease of navigation within the space and the clarity of communication.
Accessibility: The removal of architectural barriers is a fundamental criterion in the redevelopment process. Special attention is given to the needs of individuals with physical or sensory disabilities, through accessible entrances, pathways and tactile maps, emergency call points, elevators, service counters, and more.
